About the Author
As a kid growing up in New Zealand, (an hour's drive from Hobbiton) Naomi's dad read Lord of the Rings to her and her brother. Even though he sometimes fell asleep in the exciting bits, it was a magical experience as the world of Tolkien came alive.
Years later, a New York Times bestselling writer encouraged Naomi to start writing. After a few short stories, Naomi wrote a story that turned into a full-length novel, and then a series. And things grew from there.
About the stories
Naomi grew up loving the worlds created by JRR Tolkien, C S Lewis, Ursula le Guin, Conan Doyle and Tove Jansson.
Then she discovered Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Diana Wynne Jones and Philip Pullman, and never looked back.
Her first career was as an architect, and she still gets a kick out of finding the best structure for her stories.
The stories she likes best are the ones that take you to magical places and inspire you to live a more adventurous life. That's the kind of story the Shadow Kingdom Series is.
